Expertise: Features

A LEARNER-CENTERED PRACTICE

Our commitment to the ongoing improvement and innovation of our practice means setting the highest possible standard for qualifications and performance of staff, as well as closely following research developments in immediate and related fields. All of our ABA services are facilitated and supervised by our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs). Our ABA practitioners are required to complete comprehensive, ongoing training in the areas of ABA, ASD, and child development norms. In addition to our internal trainings and consultation with our in-house clinical team, our BCBA providers are required to complete ongoing continuing education in order to maintain credentialing.

THE BOARD CERTIFIED BEHAVIOR ANALYST (BCBA)

Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA) must possess a Master’s Degree in ABA or another related field, such as psychology, human services, health services, education etc. The BCBA must have completed 225 of graduate level instruction and 1500 hours of supervised independent fieldwork in behavior analysis. All BCBA individuals must have passed the BCBA exam and have current certification from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).

THE FAMILY COACH

The vast majority of direct care, program management, and consultation is provided by the Family Coach. In addition to working under the supervision of the BCBA, all Family Coaches are required to possess a Bachelor’s Degree in ABA or another related field, and have at least four years of field experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.

TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Family First's focus on professional development includes sponsoring continuing education units for BCBA certificants to maintain their certification, as well as providing the required supervised fieldwork hours to staff BCBA trainees currently pursuing certification, at no cost. Staff are encouraged to explore and share innovative research with their clinical team and colleagues. We strive to maintain an atmosphere of professional critique and open-minded consideration of ideas. Our goal is to take nothing for granted; to challenge ourselves and each other to improve individually and evolve as an organization.
